I am the Assistant Director of Research at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University (ASU), the largest public university in the US and, as of 2023, ranked no. 1 in innovation for the 9th straight year. In my role, I work closely with Dr. Jeffrey Wilson, the Dean of Research & Inclusive Excellence, to drive the school's comprehensive research initiatives.

 

I have been at ASU for nearly eight years, previously serving as an Administrative Director and Research Program Manager in the Department of Psychology and the Biodesign Institute, specifically in the Arizona Cancer Evolution Center (ACE). Being passionate about student success, I co-founded several mentoring programs at ASU, including the ACE Scholars Program, the Cooperation Scholars Program, and the Biocomputing Scholars Program. These holistic mentoring or e-mentoring programs combine scientific mentoring with professional development.

 

I am currently working on my first book, Beyond the Campus: The Power of E-Mentoring in Modern Higher Education, which unveils the critical impact of digital mentorship on student success and adaptation in a rapidly changing academic landscape, highlighting innovative strategies and real-world examples of how e-mentoring can foster meaningful connections and support beyond traditional classroom boundaries.

 

Research and practice-wise, I am interested in mentoring as a tool for building community and enhancing student persistence and success. I am also passionate about elevating operational excellence in higher education and figuring out how to best strategically plan, optimize resources, and reduce bureaucracy burnout so that departments, colleges, and institutions can function optimally to proactively address the needs of their students, the communities they serve, and society at large.
